International jurisdiction in international consumer contracts in the Russian Federation

Abstract

The international dimension of the consumer protection has acquired a transcendence in the Russian Private International Law and for this reason it is important to adopt a safe and adequate regulation that allows to solve with justice and speed the litigation arising between businessmen and consumers. The Russian legislator has made changes in the rules of the internal production that determine the international jurisdiction in international consumer contracts, but this rule still has gaps restricting the consumer’s ability to claim their rights or access to justice.
