Abstract

We study in this article the EU Directive on mortgages that are charged in urban property. Such a Directive is to reduce as much as possible evictions and foreclosures and it imposes on lenders a extensive reporting requirements to be given to consumers and give them powers to fully investigate the financial position of debtors. The novel points that Directive introduces in our legislation for granting loans on urban real estate are also analyzed, and on the other hand the uncertainties and gaps at this extensive regulation are criticized.
